The Sixty Second Interview with… Bill Joiner
1. How do you take your coffee? Sparingly.
2. What’s the best piece of publishing advice you’ve ever received? Be very
clear why you’re writing (what you hope to come from it) and to whom.
3. What is your mantra for handling rejection? I try to let myself experience it
fully.
4. Do you have any writing tics or blind spots that you had to conquer the hard
way? At some point, to stop taking in new sources while writing something
requires a very conscious decision.
5. What are your three favorite words? I’ve noticed that I tend to use “challenge”
a lot (as in “that will be a real challenge”), in a positive sense.  Two
others:  “focus” (as in “stepping back from your current focus,”) and “clarify” (as
in “clarify the outcomes you need to achieve.”)
6. What question do you wish more people would ask you? Are you available
to speak to my organization?
Our (current) favorite sentence of Bill’s: “Take a moment to imagine the full spectrum of human
growth, from humans at their most infantile to those who are the wisest, most mature, most fully
developed on the planet. “
